Stuttgart/Zell im Wiesental. Bus company Heizmann-Reisen from Germany's Black Forest region is focussing on stress-free time savings on their regular service routes – and in doing so is playing a pioneering role. It is the first German bus company to have an S 418 LE business bus equipped with a third exit (photo 21C0081_002). The additional door is 90 centimetres wide and is located behind the third axle where it helps to increase the flow of passengers. "Along the route on which the bus operates, most of the bus stops are along the B317 main road and so there are no bus bays to stop in. In these places it's important that passengers can exit the bus safely and stress-free so that we can pull away again as swiftly as possible," explains Tobias Deiß. The owner of the company based in Zell im Wiesental (Germany) was willing to forgo two seats in order to accommodate the special equipment: "Many passengers in the rear area used to worry that they wouldn't be able to reach the rear exit on-time when the bus was full. This problem has now been resolved simply and effectively."

The Setra Low Entry inter-city bus is 14.6 metres long and is equipped with 55 seats, as well as standing space for 61 passengers and a wheelchair area. It operates on the 7300 route from Schopfheim to Titisee-Neustadt. The route which covers an altitude difference of almost 1000 metres up the Feldberg mountain is used mainly by schoolchildren and tourists. Heizmann-Reisen operates its ten Setra regular-service buses on behalf of Südbadenbus GmbH (SBG). Three other Setra ComfortClass touring coaches are used by the company for its own tourism service.
