From Silverstone to Barcelona: The second triple-header of the 2020 season takes Formula 1 to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya next weekend. The first two instalments were hosted by the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ at Silverstone over the past two weekends. On Saturday, Valtteri Bottas booked the 13th pole position of his Formula 1 career - his second of the current season and his second at Silverstone. On Sunday, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri finished the race on the podium in P2 and P3 respectively.

Racing continues this weekend on the outskirts of Barcelona, where Lewis emerged victorious from the last three Spanish Grand Prix races (2017, 2018 and 2019). With a grand total of four wins, Lewis is the second most successful contestant in Spain, two behind record world championship winner Michael Schumacher on six. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has registered five victories in Barcelona since 2014, and there have been no fewer than ten winners in the history of the Spanish Grand Prix who raced Mercedes-powered cars.

Grand finale in Berlin: On Wednesday and Thursday, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will stage its last two races of the season on the tarmac of Berlin-Tempelhof. The double bill is part of a busy final week that has six races within the short space of nine days. After a two-day break, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team will contest the last two rounds of its debut season in the all-electric series. Both will take place on a new 2,505-metre track variant, which differs significantly from the traditional layout in the last two sectors.

One-two victory and class podiums in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup: The first three Sprint Cup races of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe took place this weekend. The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing teams got their campaign off to a successful start with a one-two victory and five additional class podiums. In the second of three races over 60 minutes, the number 88 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of @AKKA ASP Team was the outright winner. Starting from pole position, Raffaele Marciello (ITA) and Timur Boguslavskiy (RUS) were the first to cross the finish line at the end of the 36 laps, followed by runners-up Maro Engel and Luca Stolz (both GER) in the number 4 car fielded by Haupt Racing Team. In the two subsequent races, the duo mounted a determined charge through the pack in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 to finish fourth on both occasions. In the Silver Cup and in the Pro-Am class, the Customer Sport teams also put in solid performances over the sprint distance. Ezequiel Perez Companc (ARG) and Axcil Jefferies (RSA) of Madpanda Motorsport followed up on their second place in the Silver Cup in Race 1 with a class victory in the final race on Sunday. Team SPS automotive performance were well satisfied with the two second places and a P3 in the Pro-Am-Class achieved by their drivers Dominik Baumann (AUT) and Valentin Pierburg (GER).

The GT4 European Series staged its second event of the year as part of the support programme to the main GT3 weekend. In the first race, there was no getting past the number 15 Mercedes-AMG GT4 of NM Racing Team, which was again driven by Lluc Ibañez and Xavier Lloveras (both ESP). In addition to the overall victory in Race 1, the team also took pole position in Race 2 (final result: 4th place). Bob Herber (NED) driving the number 31 Mercedes-AMG GT4 of SRT - Selleslagh Racing Team put in a flawless performance in the Am category in both races, crossing the finish line twice in first place.

Victory and class successes in the opening fixture of the International GT Open: Newly founded Team JP Motorsport made a dream start to the season on their debut in the International GT Open. Christian Klien (AUT) and Patryk Krupinski (POL) in the number 88 Mercedes-AMG GT3 not only took pole position in the first race at the Hungaroring but also ran out winners at the end of the allotted 70 minutes. Also in a class of their own this weekend were Jens Liebhauser and Florian Scholze (both GER) in the number 44 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of GetSpeed who twice finished first in the AM class. The number 11 sister car driven by Max and Fabian Schiller (both GER) finished second in the general classification in Race 2, which was enough to give them victory in the Pro-Am category.

Customer Sport teams on great form at Sonoma Raceway: The 2020 GT World Challenge America season continued last weekend at the Sonoma Raceway. There were two races of 90 minutes' duration, in which Colin Braun and George Kurtz (both USA) driving the number 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Team DXDT Racing took the runner-up spot in the Pro-Am class on both occasions. Team-mates David Askew (USA) and Ryan Dalziel (GBR) in the number 63 sister car joined them on the class podium in third place each time.

In the GT4 America, the weekend got better for Rearden Racing after a class P4 in the first race. John Allen and Kris Wilson (both USA) in the number 16 Mercedes-AMG GT4 won the second race and rounded off their visit to the circuit in Northern California with a P2 finish in the third and final outing.

More action around the world for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and GT4: At the Kazan Ring, Capital Racing Team were exemplars of excellence in both races of the Russian GT4 Championship. Dennis Remenyako (RUS) driving the number 13 Mercedes-AMG GT4 twice stood on the top rung of the podium after a flawless performance that comprised overall victory, pole position and fastest race lap. Sergey Stolyarov (RUS) in the number 44 UMMC Motorsport was second in Race 1 and third in Race 2.

For the second time in succession, Fuji Speedway was the host circuit for the Japanese SUPER GT. The best result for a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the race over 66 laps was the P4 achieved by Naoya Gamou and Togo Suganami (both JPN) in the number 65 car entered by LEON RACING.
