  • The Untertürkheim location is home to the corporate headquarters of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz AG and Daimler Truck AG and competence center for development and production of drive technologies.
  • The spectrum of the site includes the production and assembly of highly efficient engines, gearboxes, axles and corresponding components up to alternative drives.
  • In future, the site will have two battery factories and thus be part of the global battery production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars with locations on three continents. A battery factory in the Hedelfingen part of the plant will supply battery systems for the all-electric Mercedes-EQ models in the luxury and executive segment from 2021. Another battery factory is currently being built in the Brühl plant that will produce battery systems for Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids from 2022.
  • In addition, the site will also assemble and manufacture parts of the electric drive system in the future.
  • The plant has a total of six plant sections. While Untertürkheim and Bad Cannstatt produce engines and also house the forge, transmissions are produced in Hedelfingen. Axle production and the foundry are located in Mettingen. Training is based in Brühl, and flexible production is located at the Sirnauer Bridge.
  • Untertürkheim also has a research & development unit with a high-bank curve for vehicle testing.
