  • Sindelfingen, Nov 30, 2016 - In the presence of the Minister President of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, Mercedes-Benz today crashed an E-Class Saloon to mark the opening of what the company describes as the world's ultimate state-of-the-art crash test centre, built at its site in Sindelfingen. The new Vehicle Safety Technology Centre (or TFS, from the German for its name), opens up totally new opportunities, for example for vehicle-vehicle tests, for work on designing assistance systems and PRE SAFE®, and for the validation of vehicle concepts involving alternative drive systems. The investment amounts to a three-digit million euro sum.

  • Sindelfingen, May 12, 2015 - Milestone reached: construction having begun in July 2013, some 350 guests were today present at the topping-out ceremony for the world's most advanced crash test facility. The new test centre measures 270 by 170 metres with an internal, pillarless test arena – the heart of the crash facility – measuring 90 by 90 metres to allow even complex junction/pre-accident situations to be recreated in future. Consequently, the area of the test arena is considerably larger than a normal football pitch.

  • Stuttgart, Germany, Jul 30, 2014 - By 2020, Daimler will invest €1.5 billion at the Mercedes-Benz Cars Sindelfingen Plant and will significantly improve its competitive position. The company has reached a multi-year agreement with the Works Council on cost reductions in a triple-digit million euro amount. In return, Daimler will invest billions of euros in the modernization of the plant and will produce another model in Sindelfingen.
  • Stuttgart, Jul 18, 2011 - Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated two new climatic wind tunnels at its Sindelfingen site, designed to bring extreme weather conditions indoors. Temperatures ranging from minus 40 to plus 60 degrees Celsius, hurricanes with wind speeds of up to 265 km/h, tropical rainfall and heavy snowstorms are all part of the standard repertoire available here to the test engineers. If needs be, they can even provide a realistic simulation of a mercilessly hot sun.
  • Sindelfingen, Dec 16, 2010 - Dr. Eberhard Haller, head of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen, is retiring at the end of December after more than seven years as the head of Daimler AG’s largest passenger car site in the world and nearly 30 years with the company. Dr. Willi Reiss will be appointed as Dr. Haller’s successor as head of the plant with effect from January 1, 2011.
  • Stuttgart, Nov 19, 2010 - Mercedes-Benz held its fifth Global TechMasters competition for international aftersales service staff and service center employees from November 16 to 18 in Stuttgart. The best Mercedes-Benz passenger car service center team for 2010 is from Russia. The German team came in second, followed by the team from the U.S.. In the individual categories, the specialist panel chose Luxembourg as the best in Diagnosis Technics, and South Korea as the top team for Maintenance Technics.
  • Stuttgart, Nov 8, 2010 - The CLS Shooting Brake will go into serial production: As of 2012, the sporty four-door coupé with sloping tail end based on the CLS will roll-off the assembly line in the Mercedes-Benz Plant Sindelfingen.
