- Stuttgart, Mar 3, 2010 - The drive system is today the key to the modern automobile – just as it was in the pioneering days of motorisation. For this reason the engine with a single vertical cylinder – patented by Gottlieb Daimler on 3 April 1885 (German Patent DRP 34926) and nicknamed the “grandfather clock” for its distinctive appearance – has to be considered a key invention.

- Stuttgart, Feb 26, 2010 - Emil Jellinek was a young man who enjoyed a fashionable lifestyle when the automobile was invented in 1886. He was fascinated with the new product. In 1896 a newspaper advertisement of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) caught Jellinek's attention. He travelled to Cannstatt and ordered two belt-driven cars, "a four-horsepower and a nine-horsepower" which were said to do 40 km/h on a "smooth road" – an unheard-of speed in the outgoing nineteenth century.

- Stuttgart, Sep 7, 2009 - In 1889 the eyes of the world turned to Paris and the World Exposition. The biggest attraction – in all senses of the word – was the tower wrought in iron by Gustave Eiffel. But something else that fascinated the crowds of visitors to the show was the use of electric bulbs to illuminate many of the exhibition stands – the very epitome of the modern age. Never one to be left behind, Gottlieb Daimler installed thirty electric light bulbs around his stand. They highlighted one exhibit in particular that had yet to achieve its breakthrough – the four-wheeled “wire-wheel car”.

- Stuttgart, May 6, 2009 - "That people are not there for the sake of work, but work is for the sake of people," was the belief of Paul Riebensahm, member of the Board of Management of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG), in 1919. In the troubled times following the First World War he was serious about striving for a new corporate culture which would make allowance for the radically changed conditions.

- Stuttgart, May 27, 2008 - In 1898 Daimler had one of his belt-driven cars equipped with Bosch’s low-voltage magneto ignition and tested the vehicle for five long days in the Austrian Alps in July. This trial run marked the beginning of a new era in engine technology at Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG).

- Stuttgart, Feb 26, 2008 - In the spring of 1908, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) launched the new 35 hp model – Daimler’s first car with propeller shaft drive. This type of power transmission from the gearbox to the driven axle via a shaft with universal joints was the most important innovation of the new Mercedes model.

- Stuttgart, Dec 12, 2000 - The styling design of the 35 hp Mercedes set the trend for the rest of the automotive industry, causing a 'landslide' in design. The car's elongated silhouette, high performance, honeycomb radiator, low-slung engine hood, long wheelbase, shift gate, obliquely installed steering, equal-sized wheels on the two axles and low weight were from then on regarded standard components of the modern automobile.
