Becker-Reisen celebrates100th Setra coach
- Milestone coach is a three-axle S 516 HD from the ComfortClass 500
- Family-run business based in Bad Endbach is impressed by Setra quality
- Touring coaches are replaced after four years at the most
Stuttgart/Bad Endbach. Becker-Reisen GmbH & Co. KG based in Bad Endbach near Marburg is celebrating a notable milestone in the guise of an S 516 HD. The touring coach from the ComfortClass 500 is the 100th new Setra vehicle to be added to the Hessian company's fleet, which now comprises some 54 coaches.
Managing Director Martina Becker-Achenbach, who together with husband Mathias Achenbach represents the third generation to head up the family business, spoke about the reasons for always choosing vehicles of the Ulm-based brand during the handover of the three-axle coach at the Setra Customer Center in Neu-Ulm: "Setra coaches feature outstanding workmanship and reliability, and also tremendous quality and durability. Thanks to the high residual value, a four-year-old Setra is also profitable to sell."
Four years - this is the maximum operating period for the company's coaches. The vehicles are then replaced with new models. This will also be the case for the S 516 HD, which boasts seating for 48 passengers. According to Martina Becker-Achenbach: "The coaches of the ComfortClass 500 are quite simply something special. They really make you stand out on the road."
Fitted with the latest safety and assistance systems, the new coach was already attracting the attention of quite a number of Norwegians just a few days after its handover ceremony, which was celebrated in the presence of 50 invited passengers. This is because the maiden voyage of the coach took it on a trip to Oslo.
Close links to the Setra brand for over 50 years
As a company, Becker was established in 1935 by Karl Becker who with his first coach drove workers to motorway construction sites, among other things, and also offered excursions throughout the German region of Hesse. In 1963 the company ordered its first Setra coach: an S 14 from the model series 10. Since that time Becker-Reisen has remained true to the Ulm-based brand throughout all of the model series. The vehicles are also appreciated by the staff. According to Martina Becker-Achenbach: "Our drivers are always telling us that it is like a dream come true to be at the wheel of a Setra coach."
