The “ÖkoTrend” institute has declared the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and the ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC to be the most environmentally friendly cars in their class. This is what lay behind the professional journal AUTO TEST’s decision to present its “Winners in Green” awards to both Mercedes-Benz models.

With immediate effect, Mercedes-Benz is combining the V6 diesel engine in the S 350 BlueTEC with an ECO start/stop function. As a result, the fuel consumption of the luxury class saloon has been brought down to 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined). The S 350 BlueTEC is also one of the world's cleanest diesel models.

With a total of four new diesel and petrol engines, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class defines the efficiency standard in its segment. The accolade of "the world's most economical luxury saloon" goes to the new S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. This high-tech turbodiesel is the first four-cylinder engine in the almost 60-year success story of the S-Class. Developing an output of 150 kW (204 hp), the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY achieves a fuel consumption of just 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC), corresponding to CO2 emissions of 149 grams per kilometre.

Four Mercedes-Benz models have the lowest depreciation in their segment, and can justifiably call themselves the "Value retention champions 2010" - the E, C, S and R-Class. These are the findings of analyses carried out each year by the Saarbrücken-based market research institute Bähr & Fess Forecast on behalf of the motoring magazine "Auto Bild". Mercedes-Benz vehicles are therefore generally have the highest value retention, and offer a significant economic advantage.
