Since the launch of the B-Class in 2005, Mercedes-Benz has seen customers taking delivery of over one million of these vehicles. The sports tourer has done especially well in the German market and is the market leader in the compact MPV sector. Around 30 percent of B-Class customers previously drove a different brand of vehicle. Germany is the biggest market for the B-Class, followed by China.

This is the third consecutive year that Mercedes-Benz has significantly outperformed the production records from previous years. Annual production of the brand with the star will rise to more than 1.49 million vehicles in 2013. Due to the excellent development of unit sales, the plants are working at high capacity utilization in 2013. As in the previous year, production will stop only briefly at the turn of the year.

Mercedes-Benz delivered 133,441 vehicles to its customers (+10.9%) in November. Since the beginning of the year, the company has sold 1,322,500 cars, a growth of 10.7%. Sales rose particularly strongly in China (+26.1%) and in the NAFTA region (+13.2%). Mercedes-Benz was again the most-registered premium manufacturer in the United States and in the German market.

This October, Mercedes-Benz shipped 126,421 vehicles to customers (+15.3%), more than in any previous October. Since the beginning of this year, Mercedes-Benz has also achieved another record by selling a total of 1,189,059 passenger cars (+10.7%). Growth was particularly strong in the NAFTA region, Turkey and Japan.

In the third quarter of 2013, Daimler AG (ticker symbol DAI) once again achieved significantly higher earnings than in the prior-year period. The Daimler Group’s EBIT for the period of July through September amounted to €2,231 million (Q3 2012: 1,923 million). Net profit reached €1,897 million (Q3 2012: €1,238 million). Earnings per share were €1.72 (Q3 2012: €1.06).

The earnings posted by Daimler AG (ticker symbol DAI) for the second quarter of 2013 were significantly higher than in the second quarter of last year and than the market expected. Daimler’s Group EBIT for the period of April through June amounted to €5,242 million (Q2 2012: €2,268 million). Earnings for the second quarter were boosted by a gain totaling €3.2 billion related to the remeasurement and to the sale of the remaining EADS shares. As a result of that transaction, net profit amounted to €4,583 million (Q2 2012: €1,565 million). Earnings per share amounted to €2.65 (Q2 2012: €1.39); adjusted for the EADS effect, earnings per share were €1.25.

Mercedes-Benz has started the new year with record sales. The brand with the star sold a total of 94,895 units worldwide in January, a gain of 9.2%. This growth in sales was driven by strong sales in the United States as well as in China and Russia. Despite challenging market conditions, Mercedes-Benz also saw further growth in Western Europe, where the new A-Class and B-Class in particular continued to generate substantial customer interest.

Following record sales in the previous year, Mercedes-Benz Cars has once again posted an annual record in 2012 as well as the highest December sales to date. Over the past twelve months, 1,423,835 customers chose a vehicle of the brands Mercedes-Benz, smart and Maybach. The previous year's sales volumes were thus exceeded by 4.5% or 60,901 units. Also Mercedes-Benz achieved a new sales record in 2012. From January through December, a total of 1,320,097 vehicles of the core brand were sold.

Mercedes-Benz has achieved a new sales record, both for the month of September and for the third quarter. The 123,358 units delivered during the month topped the September 2011 record by 2.0%. In total, the company sold 312,001 units in the third quarter (+1.1%). At 964,926 vehicles (+5%) delivered, sales of the brand were likewise at a new record high for the year to date.

In November, Mercedes-Benz sold more cars than ever before in this month. With 113,859 units, the brand surpassed the previous record result, which was set last year, by 8.3%. In May, Mercedes-Benz sold more vehicles than ever before in this month. The brand delivered a total of 108,766 passenger vehicles (May 2010: 101,359) to customers worldwide. Deliveries thus rose by 7.3 percent compared to the high volume recorded in the same month last year. Since January, 490,021 customers (January-May 2010: 443,394) have decided to buy a Mercedes-Benz brand vehicle, resulting in an increase of 10.5 percent.

During the first four months of the year, Mercedes-Benz grew stronger in Russia than in any other market. Sales were at record levels in each month and rose a total of 77.2 percent to 7,764 passenger cars. In full-year 2010, Mercedes-Benz sold 19,724 units in Russia. This is a new all-time high and represents an increase of 63.7 percent. Over the past ten years, sales in Russia have risen nine fold.

Daimler AG (stock-exchange symbol DAI) made an excellent start to the year 2011: Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the first quarter amounted to €2,031 million (Q1 2010: €1,190 million), which is 71% above the figure for the prior-year period. The positive EBIT development led to a significant improvement in net profit to €1,180 million (Q1 2010: €612 million). Earnings per share increased to €0.99 (Q1 2010: €0.65).

Mercedes-Benz substantially boosted sales in the first quarter, increasing deliveries by 12.7 percent to 280,552 units worldwide (Q1 2010: 248,958 units). Sales of the brand rose once again in March, increasing by 7.7 percent despite having already achieved a high sales level in the same month last year. Mercedes-Benz sold a total of 118,357 passenger vehicles in March (March 2010: 109,882 units).

In February, Mercedes-Benz continued the positive trend of the past several months, with sales rising by 10 percent. This was the sixteenth month in a row that sales grew at a double-digit rate. In total, 79,500 customers worldwide (February 2010: 72,100) purchased a passenger car from Mercedes-Benz. Since the beginning of the year, deliveries have therefore risen by 17 percent to 162,200 units (January-February 2010: 139,100).

As a result, the brand had already surpassed its 2009 sales volume by the end of November. The fourth quarter has been the best quarter in the company’s history, with deliveries of 313.700 units, an increase of 14 percent. Worldwide sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars rose 15 percent in 2010, to 1,167,700 units (2009: 1,012,300).

The pace of Mercedes-Benz sales continues to increase, with 105,200 customers (November 2009: 88,600) buying one of the brand’s vehicles in November. The figure is 19 percent higher than in the same month last year and the highest sales result ever for the month of November. This means that Mercedes-Benz once again recorded strong growth compared to the same month last year, even though sales had grown again in November 2009 following the crisis, particularly in the U.S. Since January, Mercedes-Benz has delivered a total of 1,059,600 passenger vehicles worldwide (January-November 2009: 914,700), representing an increase of 16 percent.

The positive trend in the commercial vehicle sector, which last year had to cope with an average sales decline of 50 percent, was confirmed in the figures from Daimler Trucks for the third quarter of 2010. Mercedes-Benz is steadily growing in South Korea and has posted new record sales every month this year. Last month Mercedes-Benz recorded the best October of all time in Korea, with sales rising by 42 percent to 1,200 units. Vehicle deliveries have doubled since the beginning of the year, increasing to 13,500 units (January–October 2009: 6,800). As a result, Mercedes-Benz grew more than the import market as a whole, which increased by around 50 percent. Mercedes-Benz has boosted sales in South Korea each year since 2000. In 2009, it sold almost 9,000 units, or nine times as many as ten years ago.

Deliveries once again showed double-digit growth, with a gain of 14 percent. This means that Mercedes-Benz also recorded strong growth last month compared to the prior year, even though sales had grown again in October 2009 for the first time following the crisis, particularly in the United States. A total of 954,400 Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles have been delivered to customers since the beginning of this year, up 16 percent over the figure for January to October 2009 (826,000 units).

In April, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil reached the second-highest monthly volume in its history of heavy-duty truck sales, with 1,205 units sold in the domestic market. The record was achieved in March of this year, with 1,383 units. Since the beginning of this year Mercedes-Benz has sold a total of 4,417 heavy-duty trucks in Brazil, about 90 percent more than in the same period of 2009.

Between January and September 2009, the Brazilian unit of Daimler Trucks registered sales volume of more than 23,000 units of all weight classes. This equals a decrease of -20% compared to the same period of the record year 2008, a decline that has been much lower than in other major Mercedes-Benz truck market worldwide.

The Mercedes-Benz Cars division delivered 90,400 vehicles to customers all over the world in January 2008 (January 2007: 77,700). Sales of the Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Maybach, and smart brands thus rose by 16 percent to set a new record. The Mercedes-Benz brand alone delivered a record-breaking 82,300 passenger cars in January, an increase of 12 percent on the figure for January 2007 (73,500 vehicles).
