500th ComfortClass 500 supplied to German market
- Schüle Reisen Touristik GmbH & Co. KG takes delivery of landmark bus
- Allgäu-based transport firm has ten Setra buses in service
- Company owner values high quality and value retention
Stuttgart/Isny - Double anniversary for Schüle Reisen. The company from Isny has taken delivery of its 50th Setra bus since 1965 in the guise of an S 516 HD. At the same time, this was the 500th ComfortClass 500 to be supplied by Setra to a customer in Germany. Featuring the latest safety systems, the three-axle coach offers accommodation for 50 passengers in comfortably upholstered seats.
For Konrad Schüle, owner and managing director of the Allgäu-based transport firm, which currently has ten Setra buses in its fleet, the choice was not a difficult one: "The ComfortClass 500 impresses with its technology, eco-friendly engines and verifiable fuel economy". Yet these are not the only reasons why he sees the S 516 HD as an investment in the future: "Another advantage of Setra touring coaches is their high value retention, which means a secure resale value".
Heinz Friedrich, Head of Setra Sales Germany, is also proud of the landmark bus: "Delivery of the 500th ComfortClass 500 to the German market is impressive proof that this fuel-efficient model series is exactly in tune with the needs of environmentally aware businesses as they invest in the future".
Maiden journey to South Tyrol
Schüle Reisen can look back on a long tradition. Having launched its first transport operations back in 1957, when customers included forest workers, the firm later added a taxi service. In 1965, the management decided to invest in the company's first Setra, a used S6 from the original Setra 10 Series – and the firm has remained loyal to the brand from Ulm ever since. In 1971, an S 110 from the 100 Series became the first new vehicle to be added to the company's line-up of buses. Since 1982, the fleet has consisted exclusively of Setra vehicles. The latest addition is an S 516 HD from the ComfortClass 500 Series, which successfully completed its maiden journey to South Tyrol.
Setra ComfortClass 500 now comprises eight models
The landmark bus is a member of the ComfortClass 500, which was unveiled in 2012 and demonstrated maximum energy efficiency in a spectacular Record Run. Just a year after its launch, this innovative generation of buses was voted "Coach of the Year 2014". This was on top of receiving the "Green Coach Award 2014" in recognition of its low fuel consumption. In the autumn of 2014, Setra unveiled another four ComfortClass 500 vehicles, which means that the series now features a total of eight models.
