The load capacity of the Citan Panel Van is up to 2.9 m3, measured in accordance with the VDA norm. Two Euro pallets fit crosswise one behind the other in its load compartment.
Its towing capacity is 1.5 tonnes. Besides the regular, fixed trailer coupling, there is also a version with a low-positioned ball head. This enables the doors to be opened with greater ease when a trailer is coupled.
As many as seven airbags are on-board as standard: the Citan Panel Van comes as standard with six airbags (front airbags for driver and co-driver, windowbags and thorax sidebags). Meanwhile, the Citan Tourer is also equipped as standard with a centre airbag.
For the new Citan, LED High Performance headlamps are available as an option. With a colour temperature of 5500 Kelvin, the LED light is very close to daylight (6500 K). Studies have shown that artificial light causes less strain on the eyes when its colour is closer to that of daylight. LEDs are also much more energy efficient and consume around 75 percent less electricity than regular bulbs, depending on the field of operation. The 85-kW diesel for the Panel Van features an overpower and overtorque function, which can briefly deliver up to 89 kW of output and 295 Nm of torque. This makes overtaking manoeuvres even easier.
The braking assistant (standard on the Citan Tourer; optional on the Citan Panel Van) can drastically reduce the braking distance in an emergency. At a speed of 120 km/h, the quicker reaction time makes it possible to reduce the distance by six metres.
The new Citan can be equipped with up to two sliding doors which offer a wide opening of 615 millimetres. The height measures 1059 millimetres (both figures refer to the clearance).
"Hey Mercedes", the intelligent voice assistant within MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), can understand as many as 28 languages. It can be used to comfortably operate infotainment functions. For example, in combination with Mercedes me connect, the navigation system can be controlled using regular speech.
After digital calculation and testing on the test stand, the prototypes and pre-series vehicles of the new Citan underwent more than 500 individual tests in Europe. Over the course of numerous test drives, the small van was put through its paces in two winters and two summers with temperatures ranging from minus 25 °C to plus 40 °C.
At rapid charging stations, the battery of the eCitan is expected to take 40 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent. The eCitan will be available in several body variants.
At the market launch, the new Citan will be available in nine paint finishes, including five metallic paints.
 Technical data of the eCitan in this publication are preliminary values and were determined company-internally in accordance with the WLTP certification methods. There are currently no confirmed values from TÜV, nor is there an EC type approval or a certificate of conformity with official values. Deviations between this data and the official values are possible.
