Intelligent app for smart EQ fortwo and smart EQ forfour: smart EQ control app: the perfect digital companion

Oct 2, 2018

smart is simplifying access to electric mobility: the new smart EQ control app has been available since August - as the digital extension of the smart EQ fortwo and smart EQ forfour (power consumption, combined: 20.8 -12.9 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 0 g/km) [1]. A broad range of information and functions are pooled in this app and presented in personalised form. The user can store their preferred service partner in the app, for example, while the integration of the Plugsurfing charging services allows them to locate charging stations, check their availability and pay for charging via the app.

The new smart EQ control app, which replaces the previous smart control web app, is simple, straightforward and entertaining in typical smart style. In the coming weeks it will incorporate all the features of the existing app, which will remain usable in the meantime. After registering (users of the current app are registered automatically), the customer has access to the current vehicle status in personalised form. The depicted smart EQ fortwo or smart EQ forfour corresponds to the owner's original vehicle in terms of paintwork and equipment, for example.

The user can call up their vehicle's current status at any time by smartphone. The homescreen presents the most important items of information on the vehicle at a glance. Additional homecards provide customers with an intuitive means of accessing various items of information and features. Displayed information includes charge level, range and whether the tyre pressure is correct, for example. The new features further include intelligent push notifications which provide the user with anticipatory suggestions.

The eco score shows the driver how energy-efficient their driving style is and helps them to optimise it accordingly. The eco score is calculated from data on acceleration, consistent driving style and coasting.

When the smart is equipped with the "ready to" package, the app also has a direct link to the innovative smart "ready to" services.

Charging at public facilities is important for many electric smart customers. In future, the integrated Plugsurfing charging service will provide users of the smart EQ control app with a straightforward means of charging their smart EQ fortwo or smart EQ forfour at any of around 75,000 charging stations throughout Europe and paying for charging without having to register at different portals and carry various charging cards around with them.

The smart EQ control app is available for smartphones with iOS and Android in five languages, initially in 20 European markets. Some of the described features will only become available by means of an update in the further course of this year. Download is free of charge, as is use of the app for the first three years.
